Bowie to release new jazz album Black Star
David Bowie will release his next album ‘Blackstar’ early in the new year, supposedly on the same day that he turns 69 years old. The 45-minute collection of seven new songs was recorded in New York and has been described as”completely bonkers”. The Times reports that the album was influenced by German bands Kraftwerk and Can. The title track will be released as a single on Nov 19 and is being used in part as the theme tune to the forthcoming Sky Atlantic heist series The Last Panthers.
The single is a hefty 10 minutes long and includes Gregorian chants, a soul section, electronic beats and, of course, Bowie’s unique vocals.
No official confirmation has arrived from Bowie’s camp yet. Stay tuned for more.
