Leicester, UK’s Maybeshewill are set to release their fourth record ‘Fair Youth’ on August 25th, which showcases a blended combination of electronica, shoegaze, and hip hop, taking us on a weaving, exploratory journey through life’s climaxes and failures with the help of piano, string, brass, glockenspiels, vibraphones, drums and guitars.
This is an album built for that surge of energy we’ve all felt for life, for wonder and possibilities, for discoveries and life changing contemplations. It’s the kind of soundtrack that’s meant to accompany that first breath of spring, or the moment when fall’s leaves get swirled about in a gust of wind, but what it really is, is all those little things that add up in a day, that are the same and yet different for each and every one of us. It transforms to the listener, proving that instrumental albums can have just as much if not more impact then their lyrical peers.
James Collins, Matthew Daly, John Helps, Robin Southby and Jamie Ward have created what every artist strives for- a connection. I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of them until I listened to this album and I’m super impressed, I think you will be too.
