CD Pre-Review: The Fall Of Math Deluxe Re-issue by 65daysofstatic

[review]

65daysofstatic are be back with a new deluxe re-issue of “The Fall Of Math” to celebrate the 1oth birthday of their debut album. The math-post-rock band will step things up in 2014 with a special two set show at the Koko in Camden, London, on 27th March.  The opening set will see the band perform the whole album in full for the first time; the 2nd set will be a normal performance featuring tracks from new album “Wild Light” plus the band’s previous records as seen on their recent UK run and U.S co-headline tour with Caspian. Monotreme Records will re-issue a deluxe edition of The Fall of Math on CD and 180 gm vinyl on 24th March (pre-orders are available now at http://monotremerecords.limitedrun.com/products/523818 ).
“The Fall Of Math” is maybe one of the most powerful post-rock albums ever, a mix of electronica and raw rock that opens quietly with the haunting, slightly unsettling “Another Code Against The Gone” and unfolds through waves of the gloomy, syncopated melodies and sharply distorted guitars of “Install A Beak In The Heart That Clucks Time In Arabic”. Angry riffs and mesmerizing drum solos are all over the album, at times interrupted by heart-rending piano pieces like in “Fix The Sky A Little”. The album as it was in its first edition is already a must-buy, while the new re-issue makes it a masterpiece to own with the addition of the Hole EP and the B-sides from Retreat (both included in the new 2-CD edition). A dream for any post-rock fan.
