CD Pre-Review: The Fall by Se Delan

[review]

Se Delan‘s (Justin Greaves of Crippled Black Phoenixo & Belinda Kordic of Killing Mood) debut album “The Fall” will finally be released on Kscope on April 14th 2014. The duo have shared the writing duties on the album, with Justin making the music and Belinda creating the words and vocals. This combination obviously led to a very unique kind of progressive art rock album where the cold, distant mood of the singing style well fits in some unexplainable way the passionate, raw rock arrangements, delivering an enjoyable musical experience. The use of acoustic guitars in pieces like “Beneath The Sea” or “Little One” at some point strips down the sounds to a more authentic songwriting approach leading us straight to the remarkably beautiful rhythms and languid melodies of the Lynchian “Tonight”, soon followed by the scratchy, slightly demoniac metal sounds of the title track. Variety and musical complexity make this album a must-own for every rock lover. No surprise they are opening for Gazpacho‘s live concerts in Leamington and London (14th April, Leamington Spa, Assembly – 15th April, London, 02 Islington Academy).
