Patrick Wolf to score Noel Coward biopic ‘Into The Adyton’ + live shows and a collaboration with Patti Smith

Patrick Wolf has been announced to score B Good Picture Company’s film based on the early life of Noel Coward. Scripted by Tony nominated playwright MARTIN SHERMAN (Bent, Mrs Henderson Presents) the film announced at this years Cannes Film Festival. Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer (Glee) is attached to play Noel Coward, with Sir Ian McKellen, Vanessa Redgrave and Jonathan Pryce all in talks to join.

Wolf is perhaps best known for his use of classical instruments and electroacoustic composition, releasing his first album at only 18. His music has featured on the soundtracks for films such as ‘The Edge of Love’ and Samantha Morton’s ‘The Unloved’ however this will be his first score:

I am so thrilled for my first film soundtrack composition to be about Noel Cowards early life, we both grew up in the same parts of south west London and began our journeys onto the stage and into writing at the same precocious age. The script, director, Noel Coward Estate and the cast attached combined are already in perfect synergy to make this something magical, its an honour to be the next piece of such a legendary puzzle

The film, currently given the working title ‘Noel’, is working to a late Summer shoot. It will be the second feature from British director JOE STEPHENSON, having recently completed his first, ‘Chicken’ starring Yasmin Paige (The Double) Scott Chambers and Morgan Watkins (Wild Bill) which is currently gearing up for the festival circuit.

The film was developed with assistance from the British Film Institute, with the full support of the Noel Coward Estate, and is produced by Stephenson, Colin Vaines, Julia Valentine, Jane Wright, Enfys Dickinson and Dan Pickering.

Since his last eponymous “Sundark and Riverlight” record, Wolf has been in the studio recording his sixth studio album from “The Adyton”- his own London studio which was recently built. Patrick set to take time from the studio this Summer to perform a selection of shows to form the Into The Adyton tour, including a special one off show with long-time collaborator and friend Patti Smith at the Cartier Foundation in Paris next month.
